Libraries have always been an important place for me. As a child, it was my go to place on Saturdays. Alone, I would walk to the library and get a bag full of books, regretting getting so many as soon as I started the walk home up the hill. Previous to this we lived in a more rural location, where we had a regular visit to the library bus that visited our village regularly. Skipping forward a "few" years I decided on a career change in my late 30s and became a library assistant. Not your usual member of staff, but a big girl with a "loud" voice and purple hair. I was here, I was working with people and books and I loved it. Skip forward again and I have applied for various positions within our library service, but without any success.
